A Look Back and a Look Ahead

Hello there, and welcome to 2024! I hope that you have had time to relax and recharge in preparation for all of the excitement that this year will bring.
2023 was a big year for IM, and I am amazed at, and also proud of, how far we have come, thanks to the dedicated work of our IM staff, our IM certified partners, our IM Certified® facilitators, and the entire IM community.
Throughout the year we visited classrooms where teachers are practicing IM’s problem-based instructional model, and have been moved and inspired to see students sharing their thinking and teachers ensuring that students are given equitable access to grade-level mathematics.
I’ve seen this personally in classrooms from Los Angeles, California, to Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. One parent told us that after her daughter’s school switched to IM she is loving math again!
That’s our vision: a world where all learners know, use, and enjoy mathematics. In order to achieve that vision, early in 2023 we introduced the IM Classroom, with its four pillars of curriculum, professional learning, systemic change, and community. Later in the year, we launched IM 360, our largest-scale curriculum upgrade to date.
The vision of the IM Classroom will guide us in 2024, supporting the implementation of IM 360 with aligned professional learning and other products and services that I can’t wait to tell you about.
We will continue to support teachers in helping students in your classrooms and communities learn, use, and enjoy mathematics — not on our own, but together with all of you. That is our mission this year and beyond.
